On June 23, 2008, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Cai Jinbiao and Mr. Timoci Natuva, Minister for Works and Transport of the Fiji Government inspected the construction site of China-aided Navuso Bridge Project.
Amb. Cai and Mr. Natuva were briefed of the progress of the project and visited the workers at the construction site. Amb. Cai emphasized the important role of the Project in promoting the friendship between China and Fiji. He called on all the personnel involved to make efforts to complete the Project with high-quality, and make it the bridge of friendship between the peoples of China and Fiji.
Mr. Natuva thanked the Chinese Government for its assistance to Fiji. He expressed his conviction that the Navuso Bridge would bring convenience and prosperity to the local people and pledged to urge the relevant government departments to solve the problems arising in the construction work. The Navuso Bridge Project is being built with gratis aid of the Government of China. It broke ground on 17 April 2008. The bridge, planned to be 104.5 meters long and 9.1 meters wide, is built over the Waimanu River, and will link the Princes Road and Navuso Village. The bridge is designed by the First Highway Survey & Design Institute of China and built by China Railway WuJu (Group) Corporation. |
