The 2016 First G20 Employment Working Group Meeting was held in Guangzhou

The 2016 First G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) Meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China (MOHRSS) was held between February 2-4, 2016 in Guangzhou. Mr. Kong Changsheng, Vice Minister of MOHRSS and Mr Xu Shaohua, Executive Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, attended the opening session and delivered welcome remarks. About 120 delegates from G20 members, guest countries, ILO, OECD, World Bank, IMF, B20, L20, T20 and W20 participated in the Meeting. Representatives of China’s G20 Sherpa and Development Working Group (DWG) also took part in the event. Delegates had their discussion on topics of adopting pro-employment macro-economic policies, addressing unemployment, strengthening efforts to forecast skill needs of labour markets, enhancing the safety and adaptability of workplace, improving the effectiveness of vocational training. The Meeting also reviewed key documents such as EWG Terms of Reference and its Multi-year Framework.
